Subway marks India opening with sandwich charity auction

December 5, 2013

To celebrate the opening of a new Subway restaurant in Hari Nagar, West Delhi, India, a Subway sandwich was auctioned for charity, generating Rs 51,000 (about $827 U.S.).

The bid went to businessman Angad Singh Saluja, 26, who outbid seven other customers. The entire amount was raised to the Child Rights and You foundation, which benefits underprivileged children.

The new restaurant represents a milestone in the brand's India portfolio that began with the opening of its first store in Delhi in December 2001, according to a news release. It is owned by Manush Sethi.
