August 14, 2015

The Subway restaurant chain, which employs  more than 400,000 "Sandwich Artists," has crowned Nitasha Truss, from Tucson, Arizona, as the 2015 SUBWAY Sub Jammers Champion.

Truss took home the championship after competing against a field of more than 100 Sandwich Artists from around the world at the brand's annual convention in Las Vegas, according to a company press release.

"This is definitely one of the most exciting parts of our annual convention," said Subway Global Director of Restaurant Operations Trevor Haynes. "The Sub Jammers competition is an outstanding way to honor the commitment and skills of our Sandwich Artists, who provide a positive dining experience every day for each customer that walks into their restaurants. It is wonderful to get Sandwich Artists from across the globe all in one place to compete to see who takes home the Sub Jammers title and international bragging rights!"

The Subway Sub Jammers are judged on speed, accuracy and sandwich appearance. The scoring is based on speed to make a sandwich, with points subtracted for discrepancies in appearance and accuracy. Each Sandwich Artist taking part in the Sub Jammers competition previously won his or her respective regional event leading up to the championship round.

Truss, who won with a score of 46, has been with Subway for more than eight years. This was her fourth time competing, second time finishing in first place and third time finishing in the top two.

Jennifer Underwood, a Sandwich Artist from Spokane, Washington, took second place with a score of 47, while Jenni Chapman, from La Crosse, Wisconsin, took home third place with a score of 48.
