Taco Bell is teaming up with the National Basketball Association for a promotion to capitalize on the popularity of the 2016 NBA Finals. In the Steal a game, Steal a Taco campaign, if a team wins a road game in the finals, Taco Bell gives away free Doritos Locos Tacos.
"At Taco Bell, we love to champion the underdog and rally behind sports' most exciting moments," said Taco Bell Chief Marketing Officer Marisa Thalberg. "Stealing an NBA road game gives the away team an edge, and now it can win America a taco."
So if the road team wins one of the first three games, Americans can get free tacos during a four-hour period on June 15. Same goes for a road team win of one of the next four games, which nets Americans a free taco during four hours on June 21.
The new campaign follows a similar previous promotion with Major League Baseball, "Steal a Base, Steal a Taco," which began in 2007. The new campaign has a complete integrated marketing effort attached to it including TV, web, social media and public relations efforts.
