Taco Bell is going after the techno-crazed of the world with its new promotional contest that promises to give one winner a Sony PlayStationVR (as in virtual reality) before it even hits stores.
The contest — which starts Monday in Taco Bell outlets nationally and runs through Oct. 19 — is built around customer codes on any of three of the chain’s Big Box offerings. Customers text in the code for a chance to win a PlaystationVR headset and other prize bundles, including a PlaystationVR camera, two motion controllers and a gift certificate.
The brand is kicking off the contest promotion on Monday and Tuesday with a virtual reality arcade pop-up on Greene Street in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood where fans can demo the new PlayStationVR.
"Taco Bell is a brand that lives at the intersection of food and culture, and that is why we’re particularly excited to give people the chance to be among the first to access the hottest tech this season with PlayStationVR — along with our limited edition spicy Quesarito $5 box. It's two exclusives brought together," CMO Marisa Thalberg said in a news release.
This is Taco Bell’s fourth promotion in partnership with Sony. Winners will start to receive prizes on Oct. 11, two days before the new game system lands in stores.
