Taco Bell: The new vegetarian brain food?

April 24, 2018

Proof that you never know when a potential million dollar media moment is going to happen in the restaurant business came last week on the long-running, brain-testing show, "Jeopardy." It held its special college edition that pits the top thinkers from the nation's universities against one another, and Georgia Tech freshman Rishab Hain told Jeopardy host Alex Trebek that he would invest any show winnings in Taco Bell, according to People magazine.

The young man's comments were especially valuable to Taco Bell in light of its appeals to vegetarians with its veggie-heavy menu and adaptable offerings that permit easy replacement of meat with beans and other foods. Jain said he is also a vegetarian and frequents his college campus' Taco Bell, where they now know him and his preference for beans over meat.

Taco Bell caught wind of the unsolicited comments and have sent him a $500 gift card, even though Jain failed to take home top honors on Jeopardy, tweeting out to Jain and the brand's Twitter audience, "College can feel like a lifetime. We'll help you get through it, Rishab."

It was proof in action that great brand moments can happen just about anywhere.
