Taco Bell to serve alcohol in 2 restaurants

Taco Bell lovers in Chicago and San Francisco will soon be able to have a beer with that burrito.

September 15, 2015

Taco Bell is opening two restaurants that serve alcohol, MarketWatch reported.

Called Taco Bell Cantina, the first one will open in the Wicker Park section of Chicago on Sept. 22. It will serve beer, wine, sangria and Twisted Freezes, a frozen alcoholic beverage, the article stated. The second will open in San Francisco later this month, and will serve wine and beer.

The restaurants won’t have drive-thrus, the article stated, and will incorporate design features that are intended to fit into the local area.

Additional digital services like mobile ordering will be offered. The article stated that the new stores will be more eco-friendly, using LED lighting and recycled material. Tapas-style shareable items will be added to the menus at designated times.

Taco Bell says it is still evaluating plans to expand to other urban markets, the article stated.
