Taco Cabana has re-introduced a line of hickory-smoked brisket tacos, a twist on traditional Texas BBQ. The item debuted as a limited-time offering last year.
"Our brisket tacos were overwhelmingly popular last year, and we're delighted to bring brisket back," said Todd Coerver, chief marketing officer at Taco Cabana. "If guest feedback remains positive, we are considering adding our brisket offering to the permanent menu."
Fans are encouraged to lobby for the permanent menu addition via Taco Cabana's Facebook page.
The brisket line includes breakfast brisket and egg tacos, featuring two brisket tacos, rice, beans and two flour tortillas; or a two-brisket taco combo meal with chips, queso or guacamole and a 20-ounce drink.
Taco Cabana's brisket is seasoned with salt, pepper and garlic before smoking for several hours with hickory wood flavors. It is then crisped on a flat grill before being served.
"We are constantly listening to our guests and strive to put items on the menu that appeal to their taste buds and reflect our commitment to serving fresh, high-quality Mexican food," said Smokey Waters, corporate chef at Taco Cabana. "The unique combination of a well-known Mexican favorite and traditional Texas BBQ shows how we've put the Tex into Tex-Mex cuisine."
