Taco Cabana, Pollo Tropical making solid gains

Less than a year since its spin-off from Carrols Restaurant Group Inc., Fiesta Restaurant Group is celebrating record gains as one of the fastest-growing restaurant stocks in the country with its Taco Cabana and Pollo Tropical chains, said CEO Tim Taft.

Taco Cabana posted Q4 2012 sales increases of 6.8 percent, and Pollo Tropical had an 8.3-percent increase. Fiesta is now focusing on new development for both concepts with plans to open 14 to 17 company-owned restaurants and 10 international franchised units in 2013. Likewise, the 160-unit Taco Cabana chain has realized huge gains from 33 restaurant remodels and five new store openings in 2012, with more to come as the Mexican Patio Cafe celebrates its 35th anniversary.
