Boston-based Teamsters Local 25 and Dunkin' Donuts' franchisee-owned distribution cooperative Northeast DCP made progress late last week on new contract negotiations, Local 25 has announced. At the request of a federal mediator, the parties will reconvene on July 16 and hope to conclude negotiations at that time.
Teamsters Local 25 represents about 200 drivers and helpers at Northeast DCP, Dunkin' Donuts largest distributor. The drivers and helpers voted to join the Teamsters in August 2009 and are trying to reach a first contract agreement. When negotiations stalled, the Local 25 threatened boycotts against Dunkin' Donuts and a strike against the distributor.
