Teamwork: Culver's awards scholarships to 225 employees

Culver's restaurants awarded its 2010 VIP Foundation Scholarships to 225 team members from 130 restaurants in 14 states.

The awards totaled $250,000. Recipients are each given $1,000 to $2,000 scholarships for use at any institution and for any area of study.

Each year, the program rewards Culver’s team members who are committed to continuing their education while working at Culver’s. Named after Culver’s "Very Important Partners," which includes suppliers, franchise partners and others who make the scholarships possible, the program started with a single $500 scholarship in 1993.

It has since awarded more than $1.6 million in student scholarships to more than 1,600 team members.

The 2010 scholarship recipients were invited to attend a recognition ceremony in Prairie du Sac, Wis.
