The only way anyone will say 'Hot Dog!' about this Election Day ...

November 7, 2016

Hot Dog on a Stick is using the contentious upcoming presidential election to lighten things up a little and generate social media traffic for the brand.

The California-based chain is polling customers about presidential choices via its Facebook page through Tuesday's Election Day, according to a news release.

The brand's Talking Turkey Presidential Poll asks visitors on its Facebook page:  "What turkey are you voting for?" All five candidates are represented, as well as a choice that it's feared many will make to stay home next Tuesday and not choose any "of these turkeys."

The chain is rewarding customers who vote with a coupon for one free turkey dog with purchase at Hot Dog on a Stick.

"Let the record show that Hot Dog on a Stick believes this election cycle has really hit America in the gizzard and everyone is in need of a patriotic treat," said the brand's Vice President Lisa Merrell in a news release. "After all, what's more American than a Hot Dog on a Stick?"

The release said the chain is hoping to lighten things with the poll since, it states, the American Psychological Association reports "More than 52 percent of American adults feel the 2016 election is a very or somewhat significant source of stress."
