The Hamilton (Ontario) Tiger-Cats and Tim Hortons has signed a 10-year partnership agreement that includes naming rights to Hamilton's new stadium set to open in 2014 as Tim Hortons Field.
The Tiger-Cats and Tim Hortons have been partners for more than 30 years and share Hamilton. In 1964, the first Tim Hortons was founded in Hamilton, blocks from the Tim Hortons Field site. Next year, 2014, marks Tim Hortons' 50th anniversary in Canada.
This fully integrated partnership provides Tim Hortons with branding, activation and in-stadium product integration opportunities while working together with the Tiger-Cats to continue philanthropic efforts in Hamilton and other surrounding communities.
Together, Tim Hortons and the Tiger-Cats will deliver $1 million to the charitable efforts of the Tim Horton Children's Foundation and the Tiger-Cats' Play Action minor football development program over the term of this partnership.
Components of the partnership include:
According to a news release, Tim Hortons Field will include wider seats and aisles, extensive washroom and food and beverage access, unparalleled sightlines, state-of-the-art technology integration, amenities and entertaining options. The renderings can be viewed at the stadium's newly launched website, timhortonsfield.ca
In addition to Tiger-Cats football, Tim Hortons Field will host international soccer events, major outdoor concerts and future Grey Cups.
"Hamilton is where we began and now, with this milestone partnership, it is where we will celebrate our future. This is about so much more than just a football stadium. It is about opening the doors of Tim Hortons Field and really welcoming this community home," said David Clanachan, chief operating officer, Tim Hortons.
