Tim Hortons restaurant owners and the corporate brand are investing $400 million Canadian dollars (US $289,498,000) into expanding and modernizing the coffee chain's footprint across Canada, according to a press release.

Canadian restaurant owners are investing $270 million dollars, with Tim Hortons corporate contributing an additional $130 million dollars.

Out of the 1,500 Canadian restaurant owners who operate 4,000 Tim Hortons locations nationwide, 340 owners are investing their own capital this year to build or renovate 480 restaurants. This includes 280 owners renovating 400 existing locations and another 60 owners building 80 new restaurants across the country.

The company stated the investments generate valuable work for local suppliers and family businesses. Building and renovating the restaurants creates work for local and regional tradespeople across every province.

According to the company, construction and renovation materials are sourced through Canadian-owned businesses, with most items manufactured in Canada. This includes custom restaurant furniture handcrafted in Montreal from 100% Canadian-sourced maple, signage designed and fabricated by Canadian suppliers, and restaurant artwork conceived by Canadian artists.

"Tim Hortons was built in Canada by Canadians, and we are proud to continue investing in Canada to give our guests beautiful, modern restaurants to enjoy," Axel Schwan, president of Tim Hortons, said in the release. "These are Canadian families investing their own money in their own communities — and that's something we're proud of."

The updates aim to improve the guest and team member experience through brighter restaurants, improved layouts for faster service, upgraded kitchen equipment and clearer areas for digital ordering and mobile pickup. The updated designs will also feature a standout baked goods showcase and elements that celebrate the brand's Canadian heritage and its commitment to supporting youth through Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.
