Triarc Companies, Arby's franchiser, nets 4Q loss
April 2, 2006
NEW YORK—Triarc Companies Inc. announced the results of operations for its fiscal year and fourth quarter ended Jan. 1. Triarc Companies is a holding company and, through its subsidiaries, the franchisor of the Arby's restaurant system and the owner and operator of more than 1,000 Arby's restaurants located in the United States.
The franchisor said its fourth-quarter net loss widened to $16.2 million from $3.6 million. Net sales from company-owned Arby's restaurants jumped to $258.5 million from $53.9 million. Triarc said operating profit from its restaurant business fell due to the impact of expenses from the RTM purchase and from moving its corporate headquarters to Atlanta.
On July 25, 2005, Triarc completed the acquisition of RTM, Arby's largest franchisee, which then owned and operated 775 Arby's restaurants in 22 states.
