Uber Eats 'takes off' inside Toronto airport

April 5, 2019

In part of a worldwide first pilot program, Toronto Pearson International Airport has partnered with Uber Eats and HMSHost to bring delivery from HMSHost restaurant directly to customers at their specific airport gates in the Canadian airport's Terminal 3 International and Domestic Departures area, a news release said.

The app-based service allows travelers to get everything from burgers, burritos and smoked meat, to shawarma, shepherd's pie and fish and chips right where they are instead of trekking the distance to Caplansky's Deli, Paramount Fine Foods, Smoke's Burritorie, Smashburger or Fionn MacCools.

"This innovative partnership with Uber Eats and HMSHost — unlike among airports worldwide — underscores our commitment to continued innovation in passenger service," Greater Toronto Airports Authority Vice President of Customer and Terminal Services Scott Collier, said in the release.

The pilot program is set to run up to the third quarter of 2019. It covers passengers and personnel in and around gates B22-B41 and C30-C36 in Terminal 3.
