Veteran marketing innovator named CMO at Rita's

Italian ice concept, Rita's Franchise Co., has named a new CMO for the 600-unit chain. Industry veteran, Phyllis Savar Levy, who has assumed the role and that of senior vice president, a news release said. 

Levy most recently served as consulting CMO and partner at Chief Outsiders, where she led the team behind the Sola natural alternative sweetener for beverages, cooking and food service. She was formerly a product innovation expert at Campbell Soup Company, leading the team responsible for the company's $250 million breakthrough line, Le Menu frozen dinners.

She also led similar game-changing initiatives for Aramark, has worked with health and wellness companies that include GlaxoSmithKline, Johnson & Johnson and Novartis.

"Phyllis has had a remarkable impact on every brand she has touched, developing new products that strengthen and develop the company's portfolio and brand following," Rita's board chair Kirk Griswold said in a news release. "We're excited that Phyllis has joined the Rita's team, and we look forward to tapping her proven skillset as we continue to expand our guest offerings and further differentiate Rita's from its competitors."

As a member of the executive leadership team at Rita's, Levy will oversee integrated marketing and communication strategy and execution, as well as product development and innovation across the franchise corporation.
