Welcome to the White House, Tigers ... D'you want fries with that?

QSRs including Wendy's, Burger King and McDonald's got some presidential afterglow Monday when President Donald Trump chose their fare as the "selection of the day" for the welcome of National College Football Champions, the Clemson Tigers to the White House. 

The team won the playoff  onJan. 7 against the University of Alabama, 44 to 16. Trump chose "McDonald's, Wendy's and Burger King" and pizza for the spread, telling Huffpost that "I really mean it. It will be interesting. And I would think that's their favorite food."

Some criticized the action as inappropriate in light of the nation's partial government shutdown, when many government workers have had to forego paychecks.
