Wendy's and Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced a seven-year agreement that will expand the availability of Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper in Wendy's U.S. restaurants.
Dr Pepper, which was poured at the original Wendy's when it opened in 1969, is served today at 4,600 Wendy's restaurants while Diet Dr Pepper is offered at several hundred locations. Through the agreement, all of Wendy's more than 5,800 U.S. restaurants will have the option to add Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper beginning this year.
"Dr Pepper is a valued partner that not only brings a great-tasting choice our guests crave, but they've also supported a cause we hold near and dear — the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption," said Craig Bahner, Wendy's chief marketing officer. "As we continue to innovate our menu with an emphasis on higher quality and great tasting choices, it makes sense that Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper — two of the 10 best-selling soft drinks in the U.S. — can be available to our guests nationwide."
Scott Johnson, senior vice president of fountain foodservice sales for DPS, said the agreement provides a great opportunity to put the company's biggest brand in front of more consumers.
"Wendy's is already one of our biggest foodservice customers, and this agreement brings our relationship with them to a new level," said Johnson. "They have an unmistakable legacy of innovation, quality and flavor."
