Wendy's restaurants in its hometown of Columbus, Ohio are testing three new sandwiches – the Bruschetta Chicken, Bistro Cheddar Chicken and Asiago Club Chicken.
According to Columbus Business First, the Bruschetta Chicken is topped with diced tomatoes, chopped basil and balsamic glaze, while the Bistro Cheddar Chicken includes cheddar cheese and a bistro sauce.
The Asiago Club Chicken features aged Asiago cheese and applewood-smoked bacon. All three are served on butter toasted buns and are available as homestyle, grilled or spicy.
Wendy's has been slowly revamping its menu for the past couple of years. Product launches since 2009 have included a new salad line and french fries, as well as a gradual roll out of the new breakfast line.
The chain is also experimenting with a new DT Double burger named in honor of its founder Dave Thomas.
Wendy's will likely roll out more tests during 2011, which CEO Roland Smith referred to as the "transition period" during the Wendy's/Arby's Group Q4 results call.
Among the "exciting new products" slated for introduction this year are thicker hamburgers, a North Pacific cod sandwich, new salads and Frostys with blueberries and strawberries.
