White Castle, Burger 21 celebrate 'Hamburger Month'

A number of hamburger-focused chains are pushing sales this month by promoting National Hamburger Month. White Castle leads the charge as the "official" sponsor of the 26th annual hamburger holiday, a news release said, featuring free sliders and other specials. Burger 21 is also celebrating by giving away free burgers during its holiday promotion.

"The hamburger is an American classic, and we have been loyal fans of the sandwich since opening America's first hamburger chain in 1921," White Castle VP Jamie Richardson said in a news release. "As slider creators for 96 years we know the importance of the hamburger in the American home, and we appreciate every opportunity to satisfy another customer's 'craving.'"

Meanwhile, Burger 21 is giving its loyalty club members or Burger Fry Fanatics, a free Burger 101 reward for their next visit when they dine in-store May 8 to 11 and scan a loyalty receipt.

"At Burger 21 we fully embrace the diversity that can be expressed through different flavors and combinations in creating hamburgers," Burger 21 co-founder and President Mark Johnston, said in a news release."And for National Burger Month we are happy to bring our guests back to the basics by offering them a chance to get a free classic Burger 101."

White Castle is also now accepting entries for its 17th Annual Cravers Hall of Fame class, a designation that rewards those with great stories about their relationships with the brand. Entries are judged based on brand loyalty, creative presentation, originality and something a news release called, the "magnitude of the Crave." Previous winners have told of tattoos, road trips and family traditions involving customer interaction with the brand. 

Past winners even include well-known figures like the rockstar, Alice Cooper, and Marvel Comics legend, Stan Lee. Entries can be submitted until the end of September online, a news released said.
