White Castle Cravers get their holiday wishes

November 15, 2010

White Castle is bringing back its flavored chicken rings and sweet potato fries just in time for the holiday season.

The items are back by popular demand and are now available in restaurants. The chicken rings feature spicy buffalo or zesty ranch flavors. Original chicken rings are also available for those who have a more conservative palate.

Chicken rings were first introduced at White Castles in 2002. The flavors were kicked up a notch in 2006, with the introduction of Hidden Valley Ranch and Tabasco-flavored chicken rings.

The recipes are different this time around, according to Brynn Burton, spokesperson for White Castle.

The buffalo rings feature a Cayenne pepper sauce with aged cayenne red peppers, vinegar, salt and garlic, as well as buffalo spice.

The ranch chicken rings are covered with a special mix of sour cream, onion, garlic and ranch.

White Castle's sweet potato fries are also making a comeback, specifically in time for the holiday season.

"Sweet potatoes are synonymous with the fall and the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of corporate relations, White Castle.

The demand for both items has pushed their status from limited-time only to permanent menu staples.

"Given the popularity of the flavored chicken rings and sweet potato fries from a few years ago, we decided to bring them back as permanent menu items," Richardson said. "White Castle is continuously providing our customers with satisfying menu options, whether we're having menu specials for a limited time or are bringing back past menu specials for good."
