White Castle ready for Slider Bowl Championship

January 19, 2012

White Castle's inaugural Slider Bowl National Championship will be held Jan. 31 at the Crowne Plaza Union Station Victoria Ballroom in Indianapolis.

The competition will take place between the 16 regional winners of the chain's Finger Football tournament, which kicked off in September.

Representatives from Zelosport, creator of the Finger Football game, will be on hand to referee and manage the 4-hour-long tournament, which will be conducted using a bracket format.

The National Slider Bowl champion will win a $2,500 cash prize and a lifetime supply of White Castle Sliders (in the form of a $500 White Castle gift card every year for 25 years).

All 16 regional winners have earned White Castle for a year ($500 gift card) and $250.

For the event, the Victoria Ballroom will be transformed into a stadium atmosphere complete with bleachers surrounding the field of four game tables. Each player will wear a personalized jersey representing their region, and a trophy ceremony will follow the action. Spectators will also receive free giveaways, including T-shirts, gift cards, mini-NFFL game boards and more.

The competition will stream live on the White Castle Facebook page.

"Partnering with Zelosport for the first-ever NFFL tournament provided White Castle an opportunity to bring the entertaining and family-oriented game of Finger Football to Cravers," said Jamie Richardson, vice president of corporate relations. "We want to interact with our customers through diverse events and the NFFL tournament has provided us that opportunity."
