First Burger King, now White Castle? The Columbus, Ohio-based chain is reportedly weighing delivery service in its hometown market. According to the Columbus Dispatch, White Castle has posted job openings for delivery drivers in the area and one restaurant has featured the service for "several months."
The Slider provider began a delivery experiment late last year in a Columbus suburb, but the volume of calls fell short of expectations, according to VP Jamie Richardson.
Another unit on Columbus' East side, however, has seen more success, particularly during college football season and the holiday season. A test will begin at a second location next month. White Castle is looking at technologies to keep the food hot while in transit, as well as training techniques for drivers.
Burger King added delivery in January 2012 and has since expanded the service to 12 markets, most recently in Boston.
