Wienerschnitzel has announced the return of its hot dog mascot, known as "The Delicious One" or "TDO," to star in the company's 2014 marketing campaign.
The hot dog mascot will be the focus of a series of commercials that feature jingles and artwork reminiscent of the 1960s, according to a news release.
TDO first made his debut in 1999 and was last featured in 2008. The company decided to bring him back due to popular demand from both fans and franchisees.
The 2014 campaign, also called "The Delicious One," includes a series of 30-second television commercials featuring a cartoon-animated TDO. The mascot's new look and original jingles will be seen and heard throughout the brand's comprehensive marketing campaign including radio, digital and print advertising, and social media; in addition to new packaging, crew uniforms, and in-store signage.
"We wanted to find a fun way to bring back our much-loved mascot while still paying tribute to the brand's rich 1960s heritage that we're so proud of," said Tom Amberger, VP of Marketing for Wienerschnitzel. "Our goal is to transport guests back in time with a campaign that resonates with our longtime customers while also appealing to our newer hot dog-loving fans. We are all excited to be working with TDO again."
To achieve TDO's new look, Wienerschnitzel and its advertising agency, DGWB, turned to Renegade Animation.
