This year marks the 50th anniversary for Wienerschnitzel and to commemorate the milestone, the chain is bringing back the “Der.”
The company plans a year-long celebration based on the “It’s been ‘der fun since ‘61” tagline and a nostalgic theme to its promotions. Kicking off the golden anniversary is a 99-cent chili dog deal. Wienerschnitzel also will feature deals, new products and cash and prize giveaways all year long.
Wienerschnitzel, with its roots deep in 1960s nostalgia, will transport customers back in time with packaging featuring the nostalgic “Der Wienerschnitzel” crest, historical black and white photos and ‘60s music.
Wienerschnitzel milestones also will be shared through new television commercials and promotions. An entire year’s worth of giveaways is planned, including the availability of a limited-edition 50th anniversary antenna topper.
“We began as a single hot dog stand in 1961 and our success these past 50 years is due to our commitment to the simplicity of our brand and operating with a business philosophy centered on family culture,” said Dennis Tase, president and chief operating officer for Wienerschnitzel.
Based in Irvine, Calif., Wienerschnitzel operates or franchises 351 stores in 10 states and Guam.
