There's a party on the Captain D's ship this week after the brand announced that it is closing out its second quarter of 2016 with its 19th consecutive positive growth report. In fact, a news release on the quarterly results said that the chain had generated a 3.1-percent system-wide same store sales increase this past term.
And probably related to that success, the chain reported that it is also experiencing a surge in franchising and corporate growth.
"Our talented franchisees and company operators (have) … been a driving force behind our company’s year-after-year compounding success," said President andn CEO Phil Greifeld. "At D's, our success is driven by our team's dedication to innovation and continually evolving our brand while staying true to our guest-centric roots."
Q2 for the chain brought a number of limited-time offers, including jumbo coconut shrimp, fried green tomatoes and fried pickles. The brand also launched a TV ad campaign that harkens back to the chain's roots by looking at the question, "Who was Captain D?"
The chain's redesign is also seen as a contributing factor to its renewed success, according to the release. Half of the brand's locations have been renovated to the new "beachy" look, while 50 more should be renovated by year's end, according to a news release.
