Your brand's name in lights, baby!

As a reader of this website, we know you're probably also an industry expert and leader. You know your stuff. But frankly, you're overlooking one of the best and easiest ways to help your brand and your professional status. Read on to learn more.

January 2, 2020 by S.A. Whitehead — Food Editor, Net World Media Group

You restaurant leaders are a clever bunch. We who report for this website know that because we hear you speak at great industry events, like the upcoming Restaurant Franchising & Innovation Summit and October's Fast Casual Executive Summit. Sometimes we also read about issues near and dear to your heart on your brand's website or in an op-ed piece for different media outlets.

And every time you share your thoughts — regardless of the forum or channel —your fellow restaurant leaders are often quick to chime in publicly or just pick up the phone and discuss the subject one-on-one in greater detail. But the net result is that everybody learns and grows in the process.

So with all that in mind, the question today is:

Why in the world don't you send some of your industry-related thoughts to us for publication?

After all, you are the experts and we have the audience right here every day of fellow restaurant executives who read, comment and share our articles daily in our shared Restaurant Operator Daily newsletter that aggregates the best of Fastcasual.com, Foodtruckoperator.com, Pizzamarketplace.com and QSRweb.com.

We know our readers want to hear your thoughts too because frankly, they tell us.

So then, what's up? Are you just shy? Too busy? Completely uninterested in the powers of networking? We can refute all those reasons not to with better arguments for reasons to, including:

  • You're just too shy: We understand, because, well some of us reporters are, too. That's why we tend to hide behind our pens/keyboards because it gives us time to think and say exactly what we want to say without being misquoted or presented in a way that we don't intend. So all we can say is, seriously dudes and dudettes, this first-person writing is 2020's new power move.
  • You are too doggone busy:Okay, this is legit as an argument for any executive, let alone one with so many irons in the proverbial and real fire. But, then again, we would ask you: Do you often also feel a bit uptight, stressed, maybe even out of control?Well, that's just your brain telling you to share a little, friend. After all, what better way to work out a solution or — let's be honest — just complain and moan a little about the business, if you don't talk about it with others who are very much in the same "shoes." After all, the best bloggers are not necessarily those with all the right answers, just people who know their subject matter and how to as the right questions.
  • You are completely uninterested in the powers of networking: Well, first off, we don't believe you. You do not get to the executive level by taking little to no interest in knowing, sharing and helping others in the business.

So then, maybe it's really that you don't believe that blogging is a form of networking? If that's the case, we might turn your attention to a little thing called social media, which is basically a bunch of people "mini-blogging" all day long and people find that fascinating. We know you understand that because it (social media, that is) is now driving a lot of your brand's sales.

Guess what? Restaurant leaders who share their thoughts on industry websites, like this one, are tapping into that same wellspring of engagement and ultimately also benefiting from the ripple effects of that for both their brands and careers.

So, the point of all this is simply to ask you to let this site's editor know you'd like to know more about submitting an article/blog for publication. Admittedly, this website benefits from publishing great content from an industry leader, but as we've explained, those who publish on our site also get some pretty nice perks for themselves and their brands, too. And after all, it never hurts to ask. Just shoot Editor Shelly Whitehead a note at editor@QSRweb.com.
