KFC in UK discovers new purpose for delivery: Vanquishing spiders

Starting life on your own comes with all sorts of scary things, including spiders, in the case of one young British woman who actually ended up calling for KFC delivery so the driver could kill the spider. Could this be the start of something?

Starting life on your own comes with all sorts of scary things, including spiders, in the case of one young British woman who actually ended up calling for KFC delivery so the driver who dropped off her chicken could help her because she was "chicken" of a spider on the wall just outside her room. (Sorry, that pun was too much to resist.)

According to the Sun newspaper, 22-year-old Demi Sweeney, of Bournemouth, was unable to leave her room since she feared the leg-loaded critter would drop on her head. On social media she confessed that she'd ordered KFC delivery specifically to rope the delivery person into getting rid of the arachnid.

A Deliveroo fellow by the name of "Joe" —who as it turned out also happened to be a bit frightened of spiders — nonetheless took the situation in hand, literally, and flushed the creature down the toilet, according to the article.

She told the newspaper, "I thanked him around 50 times, he kept saying this is so funny whilst laughing. I wanted to hug him. A real life hero."

No mention was made of the size of the tip, nor whether romance is in the air, but if this website had its guess, we'd say, this might be the beginning of a new delivery trend as this now already global story makes the rounds. Perhaps, spider bravery will now become part of the delivery driver's job qualifications.

But the real icing on this particularly story's "cake" is that the Sun article also mentions that this young lady happens to be a criminology student  at Bournemouth University. And we'll leave it to you to speculate how this particular very publicized incident will go over in the rough-and-tumble world of cops and hardened criminals.
