A&W launches interactive 'Burping Rooty' mobile app

Smartphone users who download A&W's new, free "Burping Rooty" app and then rate their experience on iTunes or Android will earn a chance to win Bear Bucks.

The company announced the new app Thursday on its Facebook page. So far, it has generated very positive reviews and has a 5-star rating in the Apple store.

Rooty the Great Root Bear has been A&W's mascot since 1974. The app features him encouraging users to "pour" him a frosty mug of A&W root beer so he can unleash a belly burp or burp through the entire alphabet. The interactive app is designed with kids in mind.

Fans have responded with comments such as:

• "Almost worth buying a smartphone to get the app!"
• "Holy Smokes! That is sooooo funny! Love It!" and
• "My children love this."
