Never a brand to disappoint in the ad surprises department, Burger King's latest campaign features a mold-covered Whopper, front and center, to drive home the idea that the burger QSR has removed all those mold-inhibiting artificial preservatives from its iconic sandwich, according to a news release.
The brand also said it has removed colors and flavors from artificial sources from all core menu sandwiches and sides across the U.S. and numerous European countries where it has eliminated artificial preservatives from the Whopper.
"The Burger King brand is currently rolling out the Whopper® sandwich with no preservatives, colors, or flavors from artificial sources in the U.S.," Burger King President, Americas Christopher Finazzo, said in the release. "The product is already available in more than 400 restaurants in the country and will reach all restaurants throughout the year."
The ad — proudly displaying a bluish-tinged quasi-furry Whopper — also references the number of days passed since the sandwich was prepared, and a line reads, "The beauty of no artificial preservatives."
Burger King said the Whopper (sans artificial preservatives, colors or flavors) is now served at 400 U.S. locations, with plans to reach all U.S. stores by year's end. The brand has more than 23,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries and territories worldwide.
