Burger King takes home this week's prize for "creative use of internet advertising" with its new promotion designed to do just that, while simultaneously getting the brand a piece of the Black Friday pie.
The burger chain has established a somewhat involved process to make the promotion work through its Whopper-Shopper.com website. The site is filled with so-called "banner ads" for popular online brands, like Walmart. When shoppers click on one of them and buy something, the website's owner — a.k.a. Burger King — gets part of the sale. Burger King then passes some of that on to customers as free Whopper vouchers, according to a press release.
The website is active through Nov. 26 and limits customers to three free vouchers each, which will be sent to all takers after Nov. 26, the company said.
