Burger King hosting original chicken sandwich deal

This weekend, in celebration of the 4th of July, Burger King restaurants nationwide will offer all guests the BK Original Chicken Sandwich for $1.04 each. The deal is good June 29-July 1 at participating units.

A fan favorite on the BK menu for the past 35 years, the Original Chicken Sandwich is a lightly breaded, premium white meat chicken breast fillet topped with the combination of shredded lettuce and mayonnaise, all on a toasted sesame seed bun. The suggested retail price of the sandwich normally starts at $4.49.

Burger King held a similar July 4 promotion last year, as well. Alex Macedo, senior vice president, North America marketing, Burger King Corp., said it was a big hit with guests, so the company is bringing It back.

"July 4th weekend is about enjoying time with family and friends, and BK is celebrating those moments by offering our fans the chance to add one of our most popular menu items to the festivities, wherever their holiday plans take them," Macedo said.

Cheese can be added for an extra 50 cents or, for a club chicken sandwich, thick-cut hardwood smoked bacon and tomato can be added for $1 more.
