Burger King restaurants in Canada have rolled out the Zesty, Hot BK Stuffed Steakhouse Burger.
The stuffed sandwich features a flame-broiled steakhouse burger, with jalapeño peppers and Cheddar cheese blended into the patty, complemented with creamy poblano sauce, tomatoes and lettuce on a bakery bun.
The new burger is available across Canada for a limited-time only at a suggested retail price of $4.99.
"To cut through the cold winter blues, we're spicing things up with our first ever stuffed burger build in Canada," said Cameron Loopstra, senior marketing manager of Burger King Restaurants of Canada Inc. "While guests love our flame-broiled burgers, product innovation is always top of mind at Burger King and we can't wait for Canadians to try this bold new specialty sandwich.”
Burger King launched a similar stuffed burger in early January in the U.S.
Burger King has been testing stuffed burgers for about a year. The item was brought to fruition courtesy of a new flexible broiler rolled out to BK units. The proprietary broiler helps provide creative menu innovations, including extra thick burgers, because of its technology and size.
The oven's control system cycles the amount of heat used during the cooking process based on parameters designed for the specific product, convenient for stuffed burger items.
To support the launch of Zesty, Hot BK Stuffed Steakhouse Burger, Burger King Canada will run television, radio and online ads beginning Feb. 28.
