Captain D's adds 71st Tennessee store

Captain D's is opening a Johnson City, Tennessee, restaurant today, No. 71 in the state for the chain, with three more sites expected to open there by year-end in Cordova, Dayton and Smyrna. The North Roan Street location opening today will kick things off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a news release.

This new restaurant is owned and operated by Edward and Chris Benner of Trident Holdings LLC, which now has 23 locations of the chain and is one of the system's largest franchisee groups, with sites in five states.

"We began franchising with Captain D's in 2015 and haven't looked back since," franchisee and Trident Holdings LLC partner Chris Benner said in the release. "The brand's commitment to continually investing in its people, products and processes has established it as one of the best franchising opportunities in the industry today, and our success is a true testament to Captain D's commitment to its franchisees."

Captain D's has agreements signed this year to open an additional 25 new restaurants in states across the country, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia. To date, nearly 70 percent of all system restaurants have been re-imaged to the brand's new design, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of the year.
