The human resources department at Captain D’s has been very busy as of late. Within the past six months alone, the seafood chain has named a new CEO, vice president of product development, and executive vice president of operations.
And, as of yesterday, Captain D’s also has added a new vice president of purchasing – Janet Duckham. She will be responsible for the worldwide sourcing of the chain’s food and supplies for all 535 U.S. and international restaurants.
Duckham most recently served as the vice president of purchasing and distribution of Luby’s Restaurants. She worked with the company for more than 23 years, climbing the ranks and successfully hedging numerous commodity-based products for an annual savings of 20 percent.
During her tenure at Luby’s, Duckham consolidated and reduced all major food distributors from 150 to 25, and pioneered on-line food ordering, automated invoice matching and night drops.
“Janet possesses rich business insights as well as best-in-class abilities in procurement and distribution,” said Phil Greifeld, Captain D's CEO. “Captain D’s is committed to providing our guests with top-quality food at reasonable prices. Janet’s insightful knowledge about food sourcing, including seafood, will serve the D’s brand well in delivering a consistent, quality product to our guests that exceed their expectations. I am delighted to have Janet as a member of the D’s management team.”
