Carl’s Jr., Hardee’s spotlight healthier menus via new websites

July 11, 2014

Sister chains Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s are known for products such as the Western X-Tra Bacon Cheeseburger, the Big Chicken Fillet Sandwich and Philly Cheesesteak Thickburgers.

But the brands have shifted the spotlight to focus on its lighter options through its “Other Side” menus. According to the company, these selections allow guests to “Low Carb It, Veg It or Trim It.” The brands launched their Other Side websites this week featuring lower carb, calorie and fat items. The “Other Side” theme was created for the sites as they are the backwards version of the current brand site URLs – www.rjslrac.com and www.seedrah.com.

“Our ‘Other Side’ menus highlight a wider variety of Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s’ premium quality, delicious food options,” CMO Brad Haley said in a news release. “Many fast food places have secret menus that are typically reserved for indulgent versions of their standard menu. Since Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s already are known for delicious indulgence, our not-so-secret ‘Other Side’ menu calls attention to our menu items that not only fill you up and taste great, but also provide alternatives to guests looking to trim calories, carbs and/or fat.”

The Other Side menu includes charbroiled turkey burgers, charbroiled chicken options, lettuce-wrapped beef burgers such as the Low Carb Thickburger, and vegetarian options, among others.

“All the menu items on the ‘Other Side’ have been around for a while, such as our award-winning line of Charbroiled Turkey Burgers which were an industry first,” Haley said. “We’re just presenting them in a new and consolidated way to generate more awareness about our healthier options. The selections have always been available for view on our brand menu sites under the ‘Better for You’ menu tab.”

The reverse sites were created by the brands’ advertising agency, 72andSunny.
