Cinnabon making the holidays sweeter for troops

October 3, 2010

Cinnabon is partnering with Operation Gratitude for a "Hugs from Home" initiative that sends holiday care packages to U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan.

To raise money for the project, customers are asked to donate $1 at participating bakeries. In return, every $1 donation earns a $1 "Cinnabuck" for their next visit.

The care packages will include Kellogg's Cinnabon snack bars, Cinnabon Cream of Wheat from B&G Foods, Cinnabon kettle roasted nuts from Mellace Family Brands, and Cinnabon candy canes from Spangler Candy.

The fundraiser will be held through Oct. 31. Once the promotion ends, Cinnabon will team up with Operation Gratitude to send the packages.

Additionally, guests can use Twitter to help with Hugs from Home. For every tweet using the #cinnabonsaysthx hashtag, Cinnabon will donate 10 cents to the program, for a maximum donation of $10,000.

“At Cinnabon, we believe that life needs frosting, and that holds especially true for the brave men and women serving our country,” said Gary Bales, Cinnabon president.  “Being far away for the holidays is never easy, so we wanted to send our troops some sweet memories of home.”
