August 23, 2012

McDonald's Corp. in the Czech Republic has partnered with power company CEZ to open a charging station for electric cars.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the McDonald's station is the 25th developed by CEZ.

CEZ plans to open more across McDonald's 90 outlets in the country, as part of its electric mobility strategy.

CEZ said it plans to open 50 stations within two years. The McDonald's station includes two power plugs which allow cards to recharge their batteries in two to six hours. Quick charges can also be done for limited driving distances.

CEZ is leveraging its McDonald's partnership to add accessibility in growing the electric car market.

McDonald's units in The Netherlands and in West Virginia have also installed electric car charging stations.
