Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day ready for seventh year

July 18, 2012

Dairy Queen restaurants in the U.S. and Canada are preparing for the company's annual Miracle Treat Day July 26.

On that day, participating Dairy Queen locations in the U.S. and Canada will donate $1 or more from every Blizzard Treat sold to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a charity that raises funds to help save and improve the lives of kids treated at 170 children's hospitals across North America.

"When we first decided to host a systemwide event that would involve the entire Dairy Queen family, we had no idea how much impact it would have and how it would grow in size and popularity each year," said John Gainor, president and CEO of International Dairy Queen Inc. "Miracle Treat Day has become such a celebration of life and hope, as well as a fundraiser that draws support from local communities of families, neighbors, friends and people from all walks of life who are eager to help the children in their cities and towns who need it the most. The Dairy Queen system really pulls out all the stops to make this event successful each year and we thank everyone who supports us."

Last year, Dairy Queen locations across the U.S. and Canada raised nearly $5 million on Miracle Treat Day for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 1984, the Dairy Queen system has raised more than $90 million through fundraising efforts including Miracle Treat Day, the Miracle Balloon campaign and other local initiatives, and is one of the top 10 contributors to Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.

The Oreo Blizzard Flavor Treat, the most popular Blizzard Treat flavor of all time, will be featured as the Miracle Treat Day "Blizzard of the Day." The new Blizzard of the Month – Chocolate Candy Shop – as well as the rest of the Blizzard Treat flavors, also will be available on Miracle Treat Day.
