DQ location experiences 483-percent traffic lift from text campaign

October 1, 2013

Three Dairy Queen locations in Kansas have reported an uplift in traffic and ticket from their mobile and loyalty marketing campaign created by SMS Mastermind licensee VIP TextDeals.com for National Cheeseburger Day, Sept. 18.

On the day of the campaign, two locations ran out of product and one location had to stop running the grill for some time because of increased demand. The three Dairy Queen locations utilized VIPTextDeals.com's Loyalty Rewards Kiosk to send a text message, or "broadcast," to their customer database on National Cheeseburger Day.

The message, which was sent to the 1,482 opt-in subscribers, read: "It's National Cheeseburger Day! Sink Your Teeth into .99 Cent Cheeseburgers @ Dairy Queen {STORE LOCATION} until 8pm Tonight/No Limit/Show Text - FWD-2-Friends!"

In the 24 hours following the broadcast, one of these locations experienced a 483-percent increase in traffic, bringing in an extra 106 customers out of the 590 recipients.

Todd Treinen, owner of VIPTextDeals.com, has been working with the three locations since July 30. SMS Masterminds provides a database of "national days," such as National Cheeseburger Day, and provides campaigns two weeks before the date.

"The National Days are given to each of our licensees to help them provide useful broadcast ideas," Masterminds CEO Alex Minicucci says. "We aim to give them everything they could need to provide a valuable service to local merchants, who want to keep their customers coming back through their doors; leveraging the National Days is an important way for merchants to keep offers new, relevant and refreshing."
