Dunkin’ Donuts has long been a popular breakfast destination, but now it’s offering a host of healthy alternatives in addition to its famous Munchkins.
The company, which first launched its lighter DDSMART menu in 2008, has introduced two new varieties of egg white wake-up wraps to the lineup – the egg white turkey sausage and the egg white veggie.
The egg white turkey sausage wake-up wrap features a 5-inch round tortilla filled with egg whites and turkey sausage, spinach and reduced fat cheddar cheese.
The egg white veggie wrap features a 5-inch round tortilla filled with egg whites, peppers, onions, mushrooms and reduced fat cheddar cheese.
Both items have 150 calories and are available for a suggested retail price of $1.29.
Dunkin' Donuts' DDSMART menu includes Dunkin' Donuts food and beverages that meet at least one of the following criteria: 25 percent fewer calories; 25 percent less sugar, fat, saturated fat or sodium than comparable fare, and/or contain ingredients that are nutritionally beneficial.
Items on the menu include egg white flatbread sandwiches, multigrain bagels, reduced-fat blueberry muffins, Latte Lites with skim milk, unsweetened teas and more.
"Eating smart when you're on the go can be challenging,” said Stan Frankenthaler, Dunkin' Donuts executive chef. “Our new Egg White Veggie and Egg White Turkey Sausage Wake-Up Wraps are the newest examples of our commitment to provide great-tasting foods and beverages that fit anyone's lifestyle and dietary needs, served fast and fresh so that no one has to spend a lot of time or money to eat better.”
