October 2, 2012
Great American Cookies kicked off National Cookie Month Monday by giving away free chocolate chip cookies to customers all day. The chain is also celebrating its third annual literacy campaign, Reading is Sweet!, throughout the month at locations nationwide.
The Reading is Sweet! National Book Drive benefits local libraries and charities across the country. The company created the program in 2010 to celebrate October as National Cookie Month and National Book Month, and has collected more than 12,000 books since the launch.
As part of the 2012 campaign, customers can receive a free cookie of their choice throughout October by donating a new or gently-read book at their local Great American Cookies store. All books collected at each store will be offered as a donation to a local branch of the public library or a local charity.
Great American Cookies is managed by GFG Management LLC, a subsidiary of Global Franchise Group.
