Jollibee opened its first franchise location in California on Aug. 7, marking a significant milestone in the global restaurant brand's North American expansion strategy, according to a press release.
Located at 1913 Douglas Blvd. in Roseville, the restaurant is the first to open under a 24-unit franchise-development agreement that covers Northern California, Nevada and Texas. The expansion is led by franchisees Sanjive Datta and Ajay Chopra, alongside operating partner Paul Avila.
The franchise group plans to open its next locations in Fort Worth, Texas and the Sacramento area, followed by an anticipated pace of two to three restaurants annually beginning in 2028.
"Roseville is an exciting milestone for Jollibee as we continue to bring our one-of-a-kind dining experience to more communities across the country," Beth Dela Cruz, president of Jollibee North America, said in the release. "This opening reflects the momentum behind our franchising program and the strength of the experienced operators joining us in our mission to spread joy through great-tasting food, warm service and meaningful guest experiences."
Jollibee's franchise expansion is backed by an average unit volume of $4.9 million across its North American system. Beyond California, Nevada and Texas, the brand has identified Florida, New York and the Northeast as priority growth markets for its franchising program.
The Roseville location builds upon Jollibee's deep history in Northern California, which began in 1998 with the opening of its first U.S. restaurant in Daly City.
The company, which manages a global portfolio of 20 brands, operates more than 100 Jollibee locations across North America.
