Kentucky Fried Chicken is baring its poultry-fied soul this Valentine's Day with a contest that will award someone with a chance to bare their souls as well on that ultimate icon of romance, the bearskin rug. This one, of course, is in line with animal welfare interests and not actually derived from a bear. In fact, aside from the faux fur it doesn't even really look a bear. Instead it's a fur-filled likeness the chain's founder, Harland Sanders himself.
The rug is among the prizes the chain will dole out to the winner of a Reddit creativity competition for a date night package complete with the Harland-esque bearskin rug, a pair of fried chicken onesies, KFC monthly $5 Fill-ups for two and a yearly subscription to an online streaming service providing date night entertainment.
"I'm no dating expert, but the only thing I can think of that's more romantic than eating fried chicken on Valentine's Day, is eating fried chicken on a faux bearskin rug created in the likeness of the greatest chicken salesman of all time - Colonel Sanders," KFC U.S. CMO Andrea Zahumensky, said in the release.
The contest is up and running now online and asks for submissions that are generally G-rated on content on various subreddits through three forms of entries with three prize packages up for grabs. The tree entry levels include:
Entrants and online onlookers can look for more details on KFC's Reddit profile. The contest closed at 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Sunday, Feb. 10 and prizes will be sent to winners by Valentine's Day.
