Kitchen Brains to manage KFC franchise food production

January 31, 2011

Yum! franchisee Luihn Foods, which operates more than 85 units in the Southeast region including Florida, Virginia and North Carolina, has chosen Kitchen Brains to automate and streamline its food production.

Luihn will integrate Kitchen Brain’s Quality Production Management (QPM) application, a solution that wirelessly networks cooking appliances, automates food production and provides real time remote monitoring and administration capabilities. The solution’s results have already been quantified in some Luihn units in the areas of food quality, food availability, cost control and asset management.

“Based on our excellent results with (Kitchen Brains’) restaurant management system, we decided that it makes business sense to roll the system throughout the network,” said Jody Luihn, president of Luihn Food Systems. “Our pay-back for this new investment is expected to be a little over 12 months. The ROI is driven by results achieved in the test stores where significant improvements in labor productivity, food availability and quality resulted in increased sales and lower costs.”

Ben Koether, chairman of Kitchen Brains, said QPM enables kitchen staff to ensure 100 percent product availability and deliver 100 percent product freshness, while providing more time to focus on hospitality and the guest experience.
