Kansas City, Mo.-based Barkley, an independent marketing agency, earned a National ADDY Silver Award for its "Dozen Days of Doughnuts" holiday campaign created for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.
The Dozen Days of Doughnuts campaign won Gold in the people's choice and point-of-purchase categories at the local and district ADDY's, qualifying it to head to nationals. The award was announced at the ceremony June 5 in Austin, Texas.
The campaign launched in late November 2011 and included three holiday-themed limited-time doughnuts. They were complemented by the "Dozen Days of Doughnuts" music video, a Dozen Days promotion via Facebook and a commemorative $5 wall calendar for 2012, filled with $90 worth of coupons for Krispy Kreme treats.
"A National Addy is one of the most outstanding advertising awards because it is one of the toughest to win. There are tens of thousands of applications each year, and work has to survive being judged three separate times by three different sets of juries," said Paul Behnen, Barkley's executive creative director who spearheaded the campaign. "We are obviously proud."
