Krystal proud to be 'square' at 84

October 6, 2016

The South's oldest quick-service chain is getting up there in years, but even as it approaches 84 years, Krystal is not slowing down. Instead, it's celebrating its long life by giving customers a chance to win a Kia Soul — the car as square-shaped as the chain's signature burgers — among other prizes.

For its birthday blow-out, Krystal will offer fans everything from free coupons to Krystal multipacks. But for a chance to win the grand prize car, they must follow specific instructions directing them to a Krystal store on Wednesday, Oct. 12. Once on-site, they will receive a code word via SMS that allows them to enter the grand prize drawing. For added incentive, Krystal is offering its classic original square burgers for just 50 cents that day.

"We've been all about small burgers for 84 years, but we're always thinking big," Krystal Chief Marketing Officer Jason Abelkop said in a news release. "Since our first restaurant opened all those years ago, our unique square shape and fun spirit have kept people coming back to Krystal. We're celebrating this year with a 'hot, square ride' — and we're inviting everyone to join in."
