Krystal serves 1 million-plus burgers for anniversary promo

October 26, 2012

Krystal restaurants across 11 states sold their signature hamburger for 25 cents Wednesday, in celebration of the brand's 80th anniversary.

Throughout the day, Krystal sold 1.1 million burgers in 350 restaurants.

"At Krystal our goal is to be a good neighbor in the markets we serve. Offering our signature Krystal for a quarter is one way we can give back to the community. This celebration marks a milestone as we embrace our heritage and celebrate a very vibrant future," said CEO Doug Pendergast.

While this event took place during lunch hour, other events and activities are being planned at various times.

The idea for "Krystals for a Quarter" came from posts from the restaurant's Facebook fans. More than 20,000 posts were made to support the effort which drew thousands of customers to participate in the promotion.

"Krystal is part and parcel of the Southern experience," said Tom Peterson, chief marketing officer. "All of us were moved to see so many people come out to celebrate the launch of our 80th anniversary. This is only the beginning as we'll continue to have events throughout the upcoming year as our way to thank customers and share the Krystal experience."
