Love's Travel Stops has signed a multi-year agreement with machine-to-machine and IoT connectivity product provider, Digi International, to implement a food temperature- monitoring and task- management solution chain-wide in the U.S., according to a company press release.
Love's has 400 U.S. locations in 40 states, where the new system will work to ensure high-level food quality and safety across the chain. The system automates food temperature-monitoring and task-logging to assure public health compliance while easing the load on restaurant employees. The system also produces enterprise-wide insight and reporting to help managers and chain leaders create and institute well-informed best-practices system-wide.
"Part of our core values is to 'focus on the customer in everything we do' and embrace innovative thinking," said Joe Cotton, director of restaurant services for Love's Travel Stops, in a news release. "After an extensive and thorough search, Digi emerged as the most advanced, complete system to help us deliver the very best experience to our customers as we set the industry standard for food service quality."
The subscription-based service captures and manages restaurants' daily tasks and temperature logs on any smartphone, while wireless temperature sensors and IoT technology ensure consistent compliance with all levels of food safety regulation at each location.
Real-time insights are produced via enterprise-level cloud-based reporting that helps managers continuously improve operational efficiency. The system supports this by helping to assign and customize job tasks by role, time and frequency, backed up by alert notifications.
"To work with a company with the reputation and stature of Love's is a great testament to our solution," Kevin C. Riley, chief operating officer, Digi International, said in the news release. "The scope of the agreement clearly demonstrates to the market that Digi is providing a proven solution."
