McDonald's calling for new faces
April 2, 2006
OAK BROOK, Ill. — McDonald's launched its first-ever online Global Casting Call, offering consumers around the world the opportunity to be featured on its packaging seen by 50 million people in more than 100 countries every day. To participate, consumers simply submit a personal story of what they love in 100 words or less and a digital photo capturing the essence of their story at mcdglobalcasting.com through May 31.
According to a press release, the Web site is available in 16 languages. Up to 25 consumers will be selected as McDonald's new packaging "stars" based on submissions that capture the "i'm lovin' it" spirit with themes of inspiration, passion and fun. The new cups and bags featuring the selected "stars" will be available in McDonald's restaurants worldwide in the second quarter of 2007. These "stars" will join the ranks of famous faces featured on McDonald's packaging, including Olympic athletes, tennis superstars Venus Williams and Serena Williams, and basketball sensation Yao Ming. "Our first online global casting call uses technology in a new approach to bring the energy and spirit of 'i'm lovin' it' to life by connecting with consumers and giving them a stage on which to express themselves about the things they love," said Mary Dillon, McDonald's global chief marketing officer.
